Isha Ambani is Harper’s Bazaar Icon of the Year, dedicates award to mother, daughter

Reliance Industries Limited Director Isha Ambani won the ‘Icon of the Year’ award at Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards 2024. She was presented the award by celebrated interior designer and entrepreneur Gauri Khan.
“I would like to dedicate this award to my daughter, Aadiya, who inspires me every day to do more and do better,” the 32-year-old entrepreneur said, adding that her mother Nita Ambani, Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, was her role model who “paved the way for me”.
“I always tell her that mom, thank you for walking, so I could run. So really, this is because of her,” she said.
A visionary entrepreneur and advocate for sustainability, Isha Ambani spearheads Reliance Retail and drives its expansion into new categories, geographies and formats. She has led the expansion of the digital footprint for Reliance Retail and launched new formats such as the e-Commerce business Ajio, and the online beauty platform Tira.
Influential in the growth of Reliance Retail and Jio Platforms, Isha Ambani has transformed the retail and telecom sectors in India. Under her leadership, Reliance Retail is among the Top-10 Retailers in Asia and the only Indian retailer in the list of global top 100 retailers.
Isha Ambani is actively involved in overseeing the vision and impact of Reliance Foundation and is closely involved with the foundation’s work with children and women.
The award function, held in Mumbai, had a unique feature. Every Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year awardee presented the award to the winner of the next category of high-achieving women, thus creating a chain of empowerment.
Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards is a global celebration of women from across all walks of life — film, television, art, culture and literature. Launched in 2007, the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards honours inspirational talent. It is a one-of-a-kind event where women celebrate women.
