Pasteover Butcher Cover - Unpeeled
much
This offering is for a Beatles "Yesterday And Today" pasteover Butcher cover. It is a 2nd state pasteover butcher cover. It is a 1966 Capitol Mono T 2553 which has the #3 RIAA on the back cover
(See photo #10)
. The album cover is in awesome condition. No attempt to peel has ever been made, no impression from the vinyl record on either the front or back side of the album cover, nor are there any seam splits or flaking. However, there is some minor scuffing on the front cover along the bottom of the trunk and at the top in Harrison's hair. Also, some light browning along the right side of the back cover due to age (See photo #2). With no exaggeration, this is the finest unpeeled pasteover I have seen in over 40 years.
(Photo #1)
was taken dim with much less light and on an angle so as you can better see the Ringo V ( Use the ZOOM feature to view the V ). I have also provided for your entertainment, a Simulation Example of the butcher cover overlayed with the trunk cover
(See photo #4)
.
(See the red square in photo #5)
that shows Ringo's V neck, which is also in Photo #1.
Photo #6 thru #9
are of the Album Top Edge, Right Edge, Bottom Edge and Left Edge (clockwise in that order).
The original Capitol, sleeve as well as the vinyl are in excellent condition
(See photo #11)
. The vinyl has no fine scratches and only one small scuff mark on Side One
(See the red square in photo #12)
- personally on a scale of 1 - 10, I would give the vinyl a 9+.
This is a high quality specimen of this album -
it is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to find butcher covers in this condition unless they are in the original factory unopened shrinkwrap.
Unlike almost all butchers, the spine, edges and overall cover on this one are in super nice condition - much nicer than most butcher covers. So if you want to own the BEST OF THE BEST, no question this is the one for you.
If your future plan is to have this pasteover cover peeled, to increase its value, remember that so many were ruined or destroyed by amateurs back in the 60's and 70's, but now over 50 years later the technology and expertise must surely exist to accomplish this feat and this album is certainly of the quality to have it done. There are restoration specialist that do this exact type of work. It has been written that the pasteovers with the #2 and #3, unpeel the easiest, although I myself would not attempt it.
Note: The #3 which is printed next to the RIAA symbol on the back of the cover, means a Scranton, Pa. MONO cover. The #2 is a Scranton, Pa. STEREO cover. The Scranton pasteovers used a water based glue and are easier to peel than the Los Angeles covers #5 and #6, which used a much stronger glue. It has been written that the pasteovers with the #2 and #3, unpeel the easiest.
ATTENTION WINNING BIDDER
- If after you receive the package, you have a scam in mind to notify eBay about the condition received not being the condition that was presented in the auction text,
just to get me to discount the final price, it won't work. I have gone to great detail in my analysis and description to write that auction text and I will not under any condition discount the final price based on your deception
- if you are not satisfied, just return it to me. Better still, DON'T BID! I'm 82 years old and have had this type of scam perpetrated against me by eBay buyers a number of times thru the years and I am very wise to it. IT WON'T WORK WITH ME!
My apologies to all you honest bidders that you have to read this paragraph - I am sure you understand that it is not intended for you. HAPPY BIDDING.....
