    Description

    For Auction is this
    Rarely
Seen Embossed Quart Milk Bottle from
    HILLSIDE DAIRY
    in
    MILL VALLEY,
California.  It was located in Mill Valley off Sequoia Valley Road near Edgewood.  It was owned and operated by the Lateija Family.  Hillside Dairy also operated out of
    POINT REYES STATION,
Calif. which is also in Marin County so I am assuming they are related.  In the Book
    CALIFORNIA MILKS
it is listed as being in Point Reyes Station and there is no reference to Mill Valley which speaks to the rarity of this bottle.  This Bottle is in
    EXCELLENT Condition
.  The Letters are Crisp and Bold with No Chips or Cracks.  Not even any flea bites.  There is a Rim Code on the Lip.  Rim Codes were used by West Coast Dairies in the late 1920's and early 1930's.  The number 12 and the number 8 are embossed on the lip indicating that this Bottle was produced in December of 1928.
The Makers Mark under the base is the letter IPG in a Triangle indicating it was manufactured by Illinois Pacific Glass Corporation of San Francisco, CA.  This Mark was used between 1902 and 1930.
