This card was purchased in Köln, Germany by my friend, Lotje. She scours all the great cities of Europe for unusual and beautiful vintage and antique postcards.
This postcard was shipped from The Netherlands to the USA by Lotje.
On the front of this unusual vintage postcard is an art portrait of a gorgeous Smooth Fox Terrier. Near the right front bottom is the artist's signature and date:   "
A. HANSTEIN '09
".  There is also a publisher's message on the front that says:  "Oilette".   The only maker of Oilette postcards that I know of was Raphael Tuck of England.  Yet....on the back is an interesting manufacturer's message in German and this postcard was obviously made in Germany.  What was Tuck doing in Germany?  If this is a Raphael Tuck postcard why wasn't it published in England?
I took the time to take a large photo of the back so that you could really see what I'm talking about.   On the back is a handwritten message in German, an address in Hamburg, Germany and yet there is no stamp or postmark!  This postcard was never mailed.
Measurements are approximately: 3.5" x 5.5" so this is a standard size postcard.   Aside from very few signs of surface wear, this card is still easy to see and appreciate!
